Julia’s uncle has been a flyfishing guide operating out of Bozeman for 25+ years. She hadn’t seen him for years, and I had never met him . . . so when he invited us over to get on a river we jumped at the chance. It was great all around. Dinner at his house the night before (steak, salmon, veggies, mmmm) led to casting practice in the yard the next morning, then onto the Yellowstone River in the shadow of the Beartooth Range. We are awful newbies, but it was a blast. His stories of traversing Europe, Asia, and South America via hitchhiking and VW in the late 60s/early 70s alone made the trip worthwhile. Can’t wait to make it back.
