Gratitude Monday

This week I’m grateful for wanderers, seekers, adventurers and vagabonds.

In my experience, it is rarer to find a really happy person in a circle of millionaires than among vagabonds.   — Thor Heyerdahl

We spent a couple nights in Polebridge, MT, in a tipi, on the western edge of Glacier National Park. No electricity, no cell service, and certainly no internet. It was sublime. I spent more hours in conversation with the various people staying at the hostel — half of who had arrived via hitchhiking, others on epic backpack trips, and some just seeking meaning in life — than I have in ten years of business travel.

There is a lesson there.

  1. I like your new digs! I was in Bridgeport, CA having lunch on my trips around NV and UT (and a small bit of CA) two weeks ago and there was a woman hiking the Pacific Crest Trail there-I took me back to my hikes on the Appalachian Trail–good conversations and I hated that I had more driving to do and could’t go to the mountains…
