Gratitude Monday

Finally, after what seemed like months of relentless sun and heat, we had some clouds and rain — real, “oh shit I left the windows rolled down!” rain — roll through yesterday. It poured all morning yesterday, then off and on throughout the day, and man, did we need it. I like some sun as much as the next guy, but too much of anything is too much. If I had to choose, frankly, I’d rather live somewhere like Seattle or Portland, where it is cloudy and rainy for certain stretches of the year, than someplace like Arizona where the sun is always bright in the sky. People talk about living on warm beaches with white sand and sun; I’d take one covered with mists and dark, wet, ominous tree-lined coasts any time.

So if it isn’t obvious, I’m grateful for the return of rain to my neck of the woods. Bring on fall, bring on winter. It’s time. . . .

I love it. That was one of my favorite things about the hike I took in the Seattle area a couple weeks ago, all the damp mist and rich mud smells. Made the days of soreness afterwards well worth it!

Same here – loving this time of year, we seem to be getting more clouds/rain in September than we’ve had all summer. Makes it a lot easier to get projects done outside when you’re not combating sweat in your eyes (and other regions).
