Gratitude Monday

I know I should probably make this a Thanksgiving post, since it is Thanksgiving week here in the USA, but there is plenty of time for that on Thanksgiving Day. Instead I am going to focus on a ripple effect of the holiday: that rare thing known as a paid long weekend.

I know I’m fortunate to have a day job that actually has paid holidays, vacation time, sick days, insurance, etc. And I’m grateful for that. But I’m equally grateful for those times of the year when the stars line up to give me a long weekend without having to burn a precious vacation day . . . particularly a week like this one, when I will have FOUR days off. It’s tempered by Julia having to work on Friday, but still . . . I’m ready for a stretch, even a short one, when I can just be away from the daily grind.

I don’t yet know how I plan to make use of it, I just know it won’t be anything related to dealing with the day job.

If you have a long weekend, how do you plan to enjoy it?

Enjoy the time as presented, Chris. And it sounds like that’s exactly what you’ve planned.

  2. Three years ago it became meaningless to me. But I remember the thrill.

No real long weekend as I have to work the day after, but I’m going to make a sincere attempt of chipping away at a novella that I’m rewriting. Didn’t get a chance to do it last weekend, but I really do need to get back into the swing of things.
