Gratitude Monday

I’ve taken the better part of two weeks off from the blog. Longer if you include the weeks prior when I really wasn’t doing anything beyond a couple weekly posts. No big deal, sometimes breaks are necessary and I’m easily distracted. So the first order of business is to thank those of you who stick around to read this stuff, and extra thanks to those of you who inquired as to where the hell I’ve been.

It’s a new year and I’m grateful to have survived another. My family is all still alive to fight each other another day, I have the better part of my health, a roof over my head, and I remain fat and happy. 2013 had its rough patches, as all years do, but it was definitely an improvement over 2012. I maintained some great relationships during the year, cemented a couple others, and met people whom I am certain will be in my life for years to come. That’s no small thing. I may shine on as some kind of misanthrope, but I find as I get older and my patience wanes, my love of loving people and the world we inhabit expands.

Everyone should be so lucky as I am, and I need to do a better job of recognizing that myself. I may be typically late in wishing so, but here’s to a fantastic 2014, people. Let’s go raise some hell. And let’s all try and remember to be kind to each other.

  1. I didn’t feel you were really away. And there’s a big difference between that and not missing you. Always look forward to seeing what you are posting. All the best to you and yours for 2014 as well.

Happy new year, Chris! I really appreciate your blog and also the books, Orion subscription, etc. you’ve sent my way! Health and happiness for 2014.

I always felt that when you were away it was because life is more engaging than cyberlife.

I’d like to say that’s the case, Naomi, but it isn’t always. Sometimes I just get lazy, heh. Working from home, it’s often more fun to futz around on the blog sometimes than do real work. Frequently it’s all I can do to be bothered to do EITHER!

Breaks are great. I’m sure 2014 will be wonderful.

  5. Well said, Chris. Lets rock this New Year.
