Midday Music Monday

Similar to my desire to get through all my story collections, I gave a lot of thought to music recently as well. While reflecting on 2011, I realized I wasn’t making the effort to listen to as much as I used to, or I bogged down on a narrow rotation of just a few records that I though I was only into at the time. Invariably, if I put something on outside of my rut I’d enjoy it. So for 2012, my plan is to try and listen to a different, unlistened-to for the year record every day. I figure a perfect time for this will be over my midday break, as it is something I can do from home or on the road. I’m going to keep a running tally for the year, with weekly posts every Monday listing what I listened to that week. Obviously I’ll try and listen to more than a record a day, but the goal is to listen to at least one, every day, where the listening to it is the primary focus, that I haven’t listened to yet this year. So here is what I listened to last week while walking on my lunch break:

  1. 01/01/2011  The High Country — Richmond Fontaine  Alt-Country/Americana  (2011)
  2. 01/02/2011  Keeper — John Doe  Rock/Country  (2011)
  3. 01/03/2011  Somewhere in Time — Iron Maiden  Metal  (1986)
  4. 01/04/2011  Who’s Next — The Who   Rock  (1971)
  5. 01/04/2011  Honky Tonk Heroes — Waylon Jennings  Country  (1973)
  6. 01/05/2011  Traveller — Slough Feg  Metal  (2004)
  7. 01/06/2011  Get Behind Me Satan — The White Stripes  Rock  (2005)

Didn’t get to any over a busy weekend, though. Will need to figure out a way to make that happen.
