One-Sentence Journal, Week Twenty-Two

  1. 11/25/2013:  Every time I try and watching something via this new-fangled “streaming internet” mumbo jumbo, I’m reminded that the information superhighway out here is akin to an overgrown two-track that ends at an embankment where a few generations of yokels have abandoned their hoopties to rust.
  2. 11/26/2013:  I’ve been having a very difficult time maintaining a positive attitude while keeping any real internet presence outside of the hinterlands of this blog and the tiny circle of cool people I interact with here.
  3. 11/27/2013:  Even as a third choice after coming up empty-handed elsewhere, Costco saved the day by coming through on Julia’s Thanksgiving pecan pie.
  4. 11/28/2013:  My favorite holiday: great food, family time, brisk weather, and a nighttime viewing of The Last of the Mohicans.
  5. 11/29/2013:  Most mornings I average about fifteen or so bullshit ad-related emails upon waking up and checking my various personal accounts, but today there were more than fifty, all Black Friday-related, and the onslaught continued unabated throughout the day.
  6. 11/30/2013:  The first thing I contemplated with any seriousness this morning was a rough calculation of how many miles the annoying cat who attempts to sleep ON me has prowled along the length of my body over the many years we’ve co-habitated; I estimated a minimum of 1.5.
  7. 12/01/2013:  Thick fog, rain, and mist defined the landscape of the day, a state I find every bit as compelling as one of those postcard-perfect sunny fall days.

  1. I hate the cat walking on me while I’m trying to sleep – it’s so inconsiderate! Typical cat.
Wish I could see your gig in PDX – safe travels home!

    1. I figured Costco would have them, but it was total last minute. All the other places had had them the day before — the local bakeries — but were out by the time we got around to getting serious. Costco still had plenty, though.

  2. Another very good batch. Pretty COLD weather out your way. It didn’t get above freezing here in Portland today, I can only imagine what you’ve got. Tomorrow freezing fog.

    1. I was just in Portland all day Tuesday and in the morning Wednesday. It was gorgeous, but trending to cold, especially at night. It is downright cold here, and getting colder through Saturday. Honestly, though, it doesn’t bother me at all.

  3. Oh. About the cat. I guess I’m lucky. I get a cat – sometimes two of them – on my feet. That’s great in Winter, but in Summer when a sheet is sufficient, fur bags on feet are too much. They seem to resent it when I want to MOVE my feet, of course.

    1. I try and keep this cat relegated to a spot at my feet too, which often works. She still has to get her laps in at some point, though, unfortunately. . . .
