The “Getting Some Cowboy On” Edition.
Spent a couple hours in downtown Fort Worth, Texas, yesterday. By chance I popped into the Sid Richardson Museum. Among the awesome collection of Remington and C.M. Russell paintings (which, after years of seeing prints of these images, were still mind-blowing to see the originals of) were this saddle and parade outfit. They were in a side room where I could snap a picture. I really like this kind of thing. The saddle is made of leather, sterling silver, stainless steel, mohair, wool fleece, and wood. It was made in 1947 and weighs 50 pounds. Gorgeous.
